PVDF is a plastic material obtained by extrusion. It is chemically inert, and its resins come in the form of pellets for easy processing. Alternatively, it is available as a very fine powder used for solutions and additives. As with all fluorinated polymers, this material is highly resistant to chemical erosion. However, unlike PTFE (another technopolymer from the same family), it has superior mechanical resistance and does not undergo deformation under load.

In addition, it has a low coefficient of friction, making it suitable for use in bearings; it is also ideal for food-related environments. Finally, it offers good resistance to UV rays, ageing, radiation, weathering, and temperature variations between -30°C and +150°C.
As you can see, therefore, polyvinylidene fluoride is particularly well suited to applications that require resistance over time to both halogens and strong acids, even at high temperatures.
